How to Make the Most of Your Wardrobe

Instagram is the bane of all shopaholics lives, it seems as if everyone has a new wardrobe every single day.

It’s so tempting to go out and buy a brand new wardrobe every single season.

However, there are easy ways to make the most out of your wardrobe without getting into the cycle of buying and throwing out brand new clothes.

A statement, style piece that you love will never go out of style!

Although it seems easy to just grab the most trendy thing on the rack, it won’t be in style in a few months. Your feathered skirt will hang in your wardrobe for years after one wear.

If you pick more timeless pieces, you’ll get more wear out of them and they can be worn for years to come. A little black dress will never do you wrong or a pair of denim jeans – sans the rips – will be in fashion for all of entirety.

Try to have at least five statement pieces in your wardrobe, a top, trousers, a belt, shoes and a dress. This way you can wear these time and again to dress up any old look.

Trust me, if it’s a statement style piece that you love and look amazing in, it can never go out of style.

Go for quality over quantity, cheaper is almost never better. For example , paying €5 for a pair of jeans may seem amazing, , you’ll probably get three wears out of them before you have to bin them.  Invest in sturdy items that you’ll wear for years rather than having to repeatedly buy clothes. (And remember where your cheap clothes come from...They’re cheap for a reason.)

If you want to replenish your wardrobe check out consignment stores – Temple bar in Dublin has some of the best second hand shops, and Galway is a brilliant hub for vintage shopping too. They’re usually full of recycled fashion and seeing that 80s and 90s fashion are all the rage, you can find some of the best pieces from that era.

Or, of course check out The Nu Wardrobe to borrow and share clothes with likeminded people who want to save the planet one LBD at a time.
