The Nuw Crew's November

It felt like November came out of nowhere this year (anyone else still feel like it’s September? Don’t leave a sister stranded out here…), but that didn’t stop the Nu. Crew from packing out the social calendar. It’s been a brilliant month as we’ve seen the community grow, more beautiful items added to the wardrobe and some fantastic events taking place in London, Cork and Cambridge - to name a few places.

Sharer’s Meet Up in Shoreditch

The East London Sharer’s Meet Up on november 3rd was a real treat. Just off brick lane, we got to enjoy the canva cafe basement for the afternoon - and it was a delight. Sophie Slater, co-founder of our favourite ethical clothing brand Birdsong, joined us for a group discussion which left us all feeling inspired and ready to take on the fast fashion industry. Ali got the conversation going with the Nu. story and our plans for the next few months which include an ABBA themed Christmas social (hellyaaas)!

Saying “S’later” to Black Friday by Redefining Nu

Our teams in Ireland have been working their socks off this month with screenings of the True Cost documentary in Cork, Dublin and Maynooth as an anti-Black Friday call to action. The turn outs have been great and there have been meet-ups in Maynooth and Dublin too. The Dublin team have put together a brilliant Black Friday Video about what it means to be redefining Nu. Isn’t buying something second hand still a “new” addition to your wardrobe? Or giving some love and attention to a neglected garment a “new” outlook? Check out the video - we’d love to hear what Nu. means to you.

Date for your diary, Dublin! There’s a Nu. Fashion shoot being organised for this Sunday 2nd December. Come along, meet the team and joined the Nu. crew in saving the world.

Calling Nu. HQ

Aisling’s went back to school and gave a lecture at London College of Fashion! She spoke to a group of young designers to inspire them to thinking about sustainability in their work and future projects. She also joined the Festival of Sustainable Fashion panel discussion at Hackney House on November 24th and had a fab time at the event, perusing the repair cafe and clothes swap. Oh, and there was the little fact that she was named one of the Irish Indepdents’ 30 under 30 to watch! We’re all so chuffed for her.

Well hello there Cambridge

Nu. have launched in Cambridge! And what better way to celebrate than with a photoshoot? On November 25th Nu. collaborated with Hand Me Up, a project that uses Instagram to raise awareness around the fashion industry and encourage people to buy second hand. I’m in! We also had a stand at Cambridge’s Sustainable Fashion Festival, organised by Circular Cambridge, and met loads of like-minded Nu.bies to join us in our ongoing mission to save the world...

Bookmarks at the ready

On Black Friday, the East London Crew got together at Ali’s fancy Dalston pad and watched the true cost with pizza and prosecco - a perfect set-up for brainstorming ideas for Nu.’s book club. “Save the World” Book Club has launched - so expect more discussions about changing the fashion industry for the better in early January. Topic numero uno: The Circular Economy. More info to follow....

We’re wheely wheeeeeely excited…

For the Nu. Bike Trial! Nu. - we heard you. You are busy popular people without time to be running around town dropping off and collecting your items. Between work and social lives, it’s just a bit too much to ask. So how can we help? For the first two weeks of December, we’re partnering with Pedals Deliveries to bring you courier service borrows - by bike! Pedal will pick up and deliver garments to your (home or office) door and this will cost  you just £5. Need a Nu. dress for the work Christmas party? Just arrange your borrow through the wardrobe and you’ll be able to arrange delivery. It’d be great to hear your thoughts and feedback as you use the service. As always, let us know what you think!
