Sustainable knitwear brand, Electronic Sheep

As the Nuw community grows we are working hard to build up our sharing wardrobe, providing a variety of styles so that there’s something to suit everyone. With the rise of sustainable designers emerging in the industry (woooo!), we have been making it our business to research and introduce both Irish and international ethical brands to the Nu community.

We are so excited to have pieces available to borrow from some gorgeous brands that are doing it just right. The first brand we’d like to introduce you to is the sustainable knitwear brand Electronic Sheep. A massive thank you to the team for donating two gorgeous scarves to be shared and worn by our users.

Founded by Brenda Aherne and Helen Delany, the duo specialise in knitwear with a range of unisex scarves, jumpers and cardigans. Their backgrounds in graphic design and technology are apparent in each of their creations. Their illustrations are knitted into soft natural fabrics, designed and made to last. Think storytelling meets fashion - you’ll see familiar Dublin sights, parties, landscapes, text, Polaroids - the list goes on. Wearing one of their pieces,it’s almost as though you are wrapped up in a short story.

Both Brenda and Helen spent time studying in Ireland and overseas. They now have bases in Dublin and London where they carefully draw and design each piece themselves. Everything is then ethically produced in Greece. As well as showing at London Fashion Week for the last six years, Electronic Sheep is also stocked in many locations in Ireland and the U.K as well as Zurich and Japan.

Aside from their unique pieces, Electronic Sheep is actively promoting Irish design by collaborating with other artists and makers. The duo have worked with the likes of Sinéad Burke and the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin. They have been incredibly supportive of Nu from the moment we contacted them so we’re excited to see this brand continue to grow.

Check out their Instagram @ElectronicSheep and scroll through their colourful knitted world.
